When to Call an Engineer

Common signs your plant needs an immediate site visit.

You don't need to guess why your electricity bill spiked or why the inverter display turned red. Book a site visit when you experience any of these symptoms.

🚨

Inverter Error Lights or Codes

Your inverter is showing a red warning light, beeping, or displaying cryptic error codes like "Isolation Fault", "Grid Voltage High", "PV Overvoltage", or "Relay Fault".

📉

Unexplained Generation Drop

The weather is clear and sunny, but your plant is generating only a fraction of its normal units—or has stopped generating altogether during peak daylight hours.

⚡

Tripping Breakers or Blown Fuses

Your DC miniature circuit breaker (MCB) or AC isolator trips repeatedly when switched on, indicating a short circuit, insulation leakage, or severe ground fault.

⛈️

Post-Storm or Monsoon Physical Check

Following heavy rains, lightning, or high winds, you suspect water ingress in junction boxes, damaged conduits, loose cables, or physical structural shifts.

Diagnostic Protocol

What the engineer does during your site visit.

Our engineer arrives with a structured diagnostic protocol and professional instrumentation to pinpoint root causes without guesswork.

1. Inverter Fault Log Extraction

Decoding System Diagnostics

We connect to your inverter's internal diagnostic port, read timestamped historical error logs, evaluate DC startup voltages against AC grid sync thresholds, and check internal cooling heatsinks and fans.

2. String Voltage & DC Testing

Isolating Underperforming Arrays

We isolate and measure open-circuit voltage (Voc) and operating current (Isc) across every individual DC string using calibrated digital multimeters and clamp meters to detect faulty modules or disconnected bypass diodes.

3. Insulation & Earthing Inspection

Locating Dangerous Leakages

Using an insulation resistance tester (megohmmeter), we test cables for damaged jackets or moisture leaks that cause early morning ground-fault trips. We also measure neutral-to-ground voltage and earth pit resistance.

4. Written Digital Diagnostic Report

Documented Proof on Zenith

Within hours of the visit, a comprehensive report is uploaded to your Solabrix Zenith account with photos, exact electrical readings, root-cause analysis, and explicit guidance for repairs or manufacturer warranty claims.

Who Needs a Site Visit

Expert diagnosis for every plant owner.

Independent Homeowners

When your installer has stopped answering calls or your inverter display shows a confusing error code, an independent Solabrix engineer provides clear, unbiased answers and gets your plant back on track.

Housing Societies (CHSs)

Managing committees need formal technical reports before approving maintenance budgets. A Solabrix site visit delivers clear, photographic documentation to present at your next society committee meeting.

Commercial Rooftops

For offices, hospitals, and factories, solar downtime directly increases electricity bills. A site visit quickly isolates the tripping string or grid sync issue to restore power generation without delay.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Site Visits.

Clear answers on diagnostic scope, spare parts, turnaround times, and report deliverables.

What does the Solabrix Site Visit include?

A Site Visit is a focused diagnostic inspection conducted by a qualified solar engineer.

It includes inverter fault code analysis and error log extraction, DC string open-circuit voltage (Voc) and operating current (Isc) testing, DCDB/ACDB terminal inspection, Surge Protection Device (SPD) and fuse checks, insulation resistance testing for earth faults, and earthing continuity verification. You receive an itemized digital report on your Zenith dashboard detailing findings, root causes, and next steps.

Does the fee include spare parts and component replacements?

The Site Visit fee (₹2,499 standard or ₹1,999 for SolarSaathi members) covers on-site diagnostic labor, multi-point electrical testing, and minor on-the-spot adjustments (such as reseating loose connections or updating inverter settings).

If replacement components (like a new SPD, fuse, MC4 connector, or replacement inverter) are required, the engineer specifies the exact technical requirements in your report and provides a separate, transparent quote before any work is undertaken.

How quickly can a Solabrix engineer visit my plant?

We typically schedule site visits within 24 to 48 hours across Pune and PCMC. If your inverter has tripped and you are facing complete generation downtime, SolarSaathi members receive prioritized scheduling.

What equipment and diagnostic tools do the engineers carry?

Our engineers carry calibrated digital multimeters, DC clamp meters, insulation resistance testers (megohmmeters to detect earth leakage), calibrated torque wrenches for terminal and clamp tightness, digital earth testers, and personal protective safety gear.

What if the issue turns out to be a grid voltage problem with MSEDCL?

Grid over-voltage is one of the most common reasons solar inverters trip offline in Pune. Our engineer records timestamped AC voltage measurements at your plant's AC distribution board and cross-checks them against inverter trip logs.

If utility voltage exceeds regulatory limits, we provide an official voltage log report that you can submit directly to MSEDCL to request a transformer tap adjustment.

What is the difference between a Site Visit and a Plant Audit?

A Site Visit is an acute diagnostic session called when something is visibly wrong—an inverter tripped, an error code appeared, or generation suddenly flatlined.

A Plant Audit is an exhaustive, proactive health check of the entire plant's design, structural engineering, module degradation, and long-term compliance, ideal before purchasing a property, at the end of warranty periods, or during society handovers.

A Plant Audit is also recommended if your Generation Score is much lower compared to nearby plants. We will identify the root cause, tell you if we can fix it, and provide a clear cost-benefit analysis before you decide to invest in corrections.

Can the engineer assist with manufacturer warranty claims?

Yes. If an inverter, module, or component has suffered an internal hardware failure covered by OEM warranty, our engineer documents the error codes, serial numbers, and diagnostic measurement logs required by manufacturers (such as Sungrow, Growatt, Sofar, Solis, Havells, etc.) to ensure your warranty replacement request is approved quickly.

Do SolarSaathi members get discounted pricing on Site Visits?

Yes! Active SolarSaathi subscribers pay ₹1,999 instead of the standard ₹2,499—saving ₹500 on every site visit. In addition, SolarSaathi's daily monitoring often catches anomalies before they cause prolonged generation loss.

What happens if the problem is fixed during the visit itself?

If the issue is caused by simple faults—such as an MC4 connector that unclipped, an inverter parameter misconfiguration, a tripped circuit breaker, or a loose communication cable—our engineer fixes it on the spot at no additional charge.

Which areas in Pune are covered for physical Site Visits?

Currently, our physical on-ground services—including Site Visits, Plant AMC, Plant Audits, and Module Washing—are available exclusively in Bavdhan, Kothrud, Warje, Karvenagar, and Erandwane.

We are actively working to expand our on-ground team to cover more Pune neighborhoods soon.

Note: If your rooftop is outside these five localities, you can still enroll in SolarSaathi, which provides 24/7 digital monitoring, anomaly detection, utility bill verification, and document vault services across all of Pune.
